Once a year, Brisbane dresses up to celebrate … our river, I think? One of the coolest parts of the celebration (Riverfire) is when these military jets do a flyover around the city and riverbanks, for no particular reason really. We used to have F1-11s, which had the ability do dump fuel and set it alight. Not a very eco-friendly activity, admittedly, but it sure made for a blazing spectacle. Nowadays, we have F/A-18F Super Hornets, which don’t dump fuel, but are still super cool. I’m not sure if I’m just getting older, or if the Super Hornets are actually just really freaking loud. Pretty sure the ground shook as they flew past.
